Aviva La Viv (she/they) is a queer Ashkenazi indie rock and folktronica singer/songwriter and multidisciplinary artist based in Brooklyn.
Through her poetic lyricism, ethereal melodies, and dynamic compositions, Aviva explores deep emotional dichotomies, queer love, identity, heritage, and the idea that “a better world is possible.” Aviva loves genre-blending, weaving her folk music roots with world, indie rock, Klezmer, and house music influences.
Aviva is the co-founder of Tone Shift Collective, which uplifts and connects women and gender-diverse musicians and producers in NYC and beyond by hosting listening parties, live showcases, and networking events.

I've been writing songs and singing as long as I can remember. Words of poetry turn into songs that must be sung.
I process my world, inner and outer, through the sounds and movements that flow through my body.
My art is a reflection, a rejection, a record and a prayer.
I sing to connect with others and myself, to embrace collective joy, suffering, and wisdom.
I compose to remember my tradition and to break from it.
I play to encourage questions, dreams, dances, and revolutions.
I harmonize with my darkness while searching for a greater balance.
I make music so I don't forget to see light in the world.
